Plants

My father had a passion for native plants and gardening. As a young boy I accompanied him on outings to harvest species. I had a very small native violet garden that contained purple, white, hound's tooth, and bird foot varieties.

I have planted in Grand Coteau in various places with permission over 40 live oaks  to compliment the many huge specimens already present. Undisturbed they will be here for the next two, three, or even four centuries.

I draw your attention to Twisting Oak in this collection. I was making a very difficult print of it in my darkroom and thought to visit this tree which stood in the Academy of the Sacred Heart alley. After my printing session I drove to visit this magnificent tree and to my astonishment and horror found it split in two. It was an emotional experience, I truly sensed it was weeping.
