Plants
My father had a passion for native plants and gardening. As a young boy I accompanied him on outings to harvest plants. I had a small native violet garden that contained purple, white, hound's tooth, and bird foot varieties. I have planted in Grand Coteau over 40 live oaks on my and other people's properties to complement the many large specimens already present. They will be here beyond the next two, three, or even four centuries.
I draw your attention to Twisting Oak in this collection. I was making a difficult print of it in my darkroom and thought to visit this tree which stood in the Academy of the Sacred Heart alley. After my session I drove to see this magnificent oak and to my astonishment found it split in two. I sensed it was weeping.
