Belize / Caye Caulker
In 1989 I was having a conversation with a Jesuit novice at The Kitchen Shop in Grand Coteau, LA. He explained that he had just returned from Caye Caulker, Belize. His stories piqued my interest. So off we went. It was then only accessible by boat; it was magical. We returned in 1990 and sensed that discovery was on the way.

Cap'n Ray was a Brit. He took us out to the reef on his sailboat and we snorkeled. There was only one sail which was weighted at the bottom by a slender tree trunk.
